all right tell everyone my name is dondre Dawes and I am a first grade teacher at Manch Elementary School so this videos and he's focused more on the base Google Chrome how to use Chrome to the best of your abilities or that you can just so use a successful when it comes down to this online teaching which is going to be difficult for most opening video will help our parents and students make this whole thing lot easier and smoother as we continue to school year so they can see me full schedule of we're going to head on during this whole video so again do you want to skip along and go to certain parts I made it possible if I'm not going to come back to this page and yeah so with that being said let us start our Google Chrome 101 South 1st number one Google icon on Chromebook starting off with the basic but most important part of this video is that we need Chrome in order to use Google so with that being said whenever you sign your student or child into a Chromebook this is a screen that you will see first Years made out of but this is what the screen will look like so on the bottom two different little pictures these are called icons so for right now our main focus is on our Chrome icon so Chrome is a circle it has the colors green yellow red and blue this will be our Chrome icon showing at 1 and we are back on our Google Chrome so that one is our first one marking that went off easiest but again also very important to know where it is and what it looks like right next is our little tabby tabs called so what first what is a tab that is what you called little box windows so basically at the top these are what you call to have these little boxes at the top of your so this time is my Google, 1 schedule look from 101 schedule at 8 to see how this one and come this one this is my tab which is what I'm calling the song hello hello all right so the cool thing about time that you can have as many as you want so next to my little me tab is a little fuss button so this one is a new tab so you cook it and you could add a new tab so then you click and it adds a new tab so let's say I have too many tabs open our on a closed down next to it also X this is how you close a tab so quick it tab is gone for the game that is gone one more time and tab is gone now I'm back to my to original tabs so add a tab again but plus boom cell with Tabs are helpful because if you are not home your kids can just fine which tab they need to go see let me show you so during the school there egg is clever a lot so have been clever what apps do you use Class Dojo a lot 7 Class Dojo by next time that I added Amanda had one more tags my plus button again next to my my next to my class dojo tab click last time I also use epic can you type an epic books let that one load unload are cool so now I have my different tabs so let's say honest to go to clever all that I do is fine the time the blue box to see out here this clever after clever I want you to go on and say ClassDojo ClassDojo has a little green guy with the headband so they going to find the picture of the guy headband is nice and my last tab let's say I want you cook on the so they'll find your destiny elicit you click it and boom books again these Tabs are a little helpful ways just to get around faster with the kids instead of have and what size cuz if your kids are in lower grades like what's a Kinder first or Pre-K SIM card type in they can find the icon for the pictures and help them so much more easier during the school day again on except my tabs extra exit out exit out so my last thing on tabs is the importance of only having what you need so you can the thing is you can keep adding tabs adding tabs adding apps but just no as you see the more tabs you add the smaller they get so again if you add too many tabs it'll get harder to see the icon so make sure you only have as many times as you need and also but the more tabs have the slower your Chromebook will go so again if you have a hunch tabs open your Chromebook will go to speed of a turtle very very slow so again rule of thumb is at most you want to have got five to seven spots open at once upon any more than that and computer goes so slow and everyone will be upset about it in French again I understand I've been before and it was not a fun time so again to make sure you only have as many times as you need to open and with that yep that was basically yeah that was taps all right Knockout by number two for tabs alright next comes number 3 focusing on icons can I go to my tabs again in my two and hit my check mark again but I plus Mark again glasses hit that one and my new tab opens on to so icon icons are what you call these on the bottom so I have Google I have goguardian I have class dojo I have clever I have YouTube Starfall and Epic book canvas and Google Docs so the reason these icons are right here is because I go to the most so then on your kids Chromebook these will be the icon City the most sogn at the bottom is icons of the websites I visit the most again at a teacher at all these sites about every day for the students that's why I see us again they go enough to have these little icons on the bottom tough in the ghost x again so real quick real quick and clever and again the time will change the clever and if you ever want to go back to when is little arrow that's pointing to the left this one is your back button and this arrow that points the what is the forward button and refresh it appears never going to slow cook it and it will reload the page over me to go faster and my back buttons left text me back to my page again Alexei I did not finish some hit the right for button again and go back to clever back again so then that one is more on the icons as well as how to go back forward how to refresh your page or goes if it's going slow and yeah the icons next one is minimizing and maximizing all right let's do this one so going back to my blank tab so on our tab we see all the way to the right is minimize button and we have our restore maximize button SRX button clothes button all right so first things first is the minimize button which is a little line on the bottom so I click it and the page is now minimized it went back in OK Google where is hiding minimize helps the our page to hide from us so could come again and our page comes back unless we got it yep that's it again minimize plates are paid that the Chrome so we can do other stuff on our desktop Wicked again Chrome again comes back alright next is I restore maximize button so it's little box in between the maximize and the X click it and what it will do is make the screen smaller so you can have more control over your so now I cast my desktop and my webpage favorite icons on here you can click it so yeah and necks if you want to make it bigger again Marcus change now it's a big box this is what you call maximizing maximize means making the screen bigger so again minimize makes the screen go back into Chrome are we store button click it once makes it small then maximize Again mix into a box and let's say I wanted to x out everything this x button will close this whole page down so yeah this x button will close the whole page set a time recording I can't really close it but yes it will do so close and that more folks is on the minimize maximize close everything else all right so down four and four more to go next is bookmarks which is going to be very important that you follow us into that one alright it's important to take it nice and slow all right so again back on my tab pages in case you forgot next to my tab one tattoo is a plus I click it opens up a new tab so bookmarks bookmarks are what we were call the book The Little bookmark in it the same as place so then these under my search bar are called bookmarks as you can see I have one 34565 map testing the guardian forever PBS and Storyline Online and icons these are another quick and easy way to get around without too much hassle so you can click on let's fix BS kids PBS Kids it'll load take me to PBS if you want to go back acknowledge the back button go back to my tab or the sea Storyline Online if I don't know how to go back I'll keep my tab open and open a new one and boom there it is again. Remember you want to make sure you have $0.05 apps open any more than that will slowly computers down bookmarks are cool way for kids to keep track again so the icons on the bottom that got to find the E they got to find the storyline excuse a mic on top and bottom another way to get around quick and fast Axl bookmarks not let me show you how to get a bookmark so icy what else do I use in my feelings struction I also like to use let's go with a chemist all right canvas and boom one more Atco as a teacher to start with a canvas 30 I want to save this page on typing all over again so how to bookmark a page is if you go the way to maximize minimize and there is a star so this star is how you make a bookmark so you would click it boom and a good option so says named broccoli bookmark bar satellite click on done and now when I go back to my my page go back open you see now it's saved on bookmarks bar cricket the camp another way to get around quicker and faster than before exit out again so again to make sure you get the starts at a bookmark but let's say I want I don't want to bookmark on my bookmark since day I don't we need to have a storyline storyline bookmark ex me the story line but this time if you look the star is now blue instead of white soak liquor store again and this time you can remove it so it remove okay now it starts white again. Go back to my tab storyline is now gone it's no longer on my bookmark bar so again at the stars blue is now on your bookmark bar when you make it unblur move it it disappears so those are tabs hopefully you bookmark again so you have tabs you have bookmarks it's important to get around faster and easier for little kids all right next one this one is called split screens which is even hard to some adults so for this one be very patient understanding this one alright so we only need two so I'm going to read my new tab bye-bye we are all right so now I have my two tabs so first things first I'm going to hit the restore which is the little box in the middle between the minimum Click Boom my web page is small now here comes the important part if you click on any part of the top you can ask remove your web page see JB holding on to it and you got to move one finger is holding on clicking on it or you're down and the other one is moving moving moving just going to show you so you can look one is down the other one is moving the page how you want it so I can make sure the holding it down and moving it something more serious now so next one person screen after this you click on your tab like with your page you can move the tab also so boom boom now I have to I have this one and I have this one but now my only problem with this one is I can't really see this page cuz when is blocking it so now I'm going to split my screen art so important let's do this again going back to our maximize button with his the box in the middle between the minimize and the X and therefore I'm going to and hold on to the box with my finger you do it you can see there's an arrow going to the left and arrow going to the right so let's see it doesn't matter which one you pick someone to pick on to the left I do that my screen automatically moves the left side of my screen all right so again I still can't see my friend in the back so doing the same thing but on this one click the maximize button click and now I have that one left to the right all right and now my screen is split so this is important for kids to do just because some kidding to actually see what teacher is doing on their screen so it would be very helpful tattoo sleeves open so while one is doing their work other than watching the video about their work so then the screen is awesome is definitely helpful for you know doing two things at once anymore than that I'll be your brain overload so again split screen having to stat I'm going to say that split screens gets a red Ford I'm done all right down to our last two on our schedule we have Google Apps and we have settings so Google Apps is a cool and setting is important part going to minimize my friends right here and it's focused on this one all right now I can rest and try to focus on Google Apps yes all right when you open up your new page again didn't that plus for my new tab if you go over to the side again the right side so bowls everything important is on the right some of that whenever you start you always look to the right these are your important tools on the right hand side all right so they have Gmail images and this one with the nine. how you get to your Google apps to next to your letter so I get my name is Andres us a d on it but yeah all right so quick it and boom these are what you call your apps so decided your account Gmail emails who will drive classroom Google Docs sheets slides calendar will need all of this is on your apps action so with this one if you can't say you can't afford Microsoft Microsoft Word Microsoft PowerPoint Excel Microsoft you can't afford it or you can just can get it either one of those two Google is a good sub for sew on from sheets is like Google Excel Google Docs is like Google and Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint but the thing about it is they save online so you have to save it'll save automatically we should be awesome for apps to do and also Google need is right here to typing it typing in every morning for your kid go to their click the Google apps and find meet and go straight to their meat from see these are mines for my office hours another code they can join it or they can make their own Google meets pretty cool yeah that was more focused on an abstract and last part of an app's is Google Drive going to pay you real quickly it's not a must but trust me when I say using Google Drives is awesome I can't take this is awesome like Google Drive New say the cloud sold Google Drive can save everything you do online you don't need to have a USB a flash drive everything you need never want must be saved online so you can I have a Google doc I have my Google PowerPoint again and again have all my stuff saved in my files and folders I scroll down again everything is saved on here from word to videos that will drive to save everything you want on here and that's part of it is for the most part it is unlimited so you can say that much as you want on here and you can share it it's awesome so again it'll have a chance to make sure you explore Google Drives as you can I decided I would not steer you wrong and that one with the touch on the apps back my Google Chrome 101 mark off my friend right there and last but not least is our settings so settings is important I'm going to show you why that is so but always I can always been doing first I need a new tab find the plus button click it and get my I knew tab all right and other things doing is to remember right hand side has all our most important friend and Tool so under the x is three little dots going from up to down this one is how you get to your settings or cook it and when it does it it opens up all of these options for settings again under here if you can click the Plus or forget you can also open a new tab here open a new window at new incognito window doesn't receive your history with yeah is history so you can see where off your kids have been with sight even on what they should be doing or not be doing so again so I can always catch him doing the wrong thing download bookmarks again is right here up here but again bookmarks you can see them again this is how you can make your screen bigger and smaller p**** zoom out to pretty good if you were I want to say farsighted mixed up screen is too large can back it up there you go if it's too small in my glasses and take a plus and I can resume and all yet I could see that now. Google boom boom boom unless they want to make the hole things will full screen is Fox click it and boom see the full screen where you can see just only the icon and Google and Gmail so now I see everything nice and clear how to say I wanted to get out of it so with my friend the mouse I would slowly go all the way to the top I see you search bar so yeah I'll go to my three little. Get my box again and Flume now everything is back and normal again all right so the house more the stuff I was more like if you have like a fire stick or whatever you say move this onto a either one or split screen find words but my main focus is the settings right here at the bottom click my settings this one lets me view my account so if you update your computer you would go to settings and it says Chrome OS settings you click it let it load all right after that you can see your Chrome settings so going to Wi-Fi my Bluetooth all this good stuff all right no I'm back right and left part of settings I want to focus on is blockers so I don't my settings again I'm going to click on privacy and security on the side click and then click on it says site settings so come at 1 boom and then I'm on this page I'm going to go down down down down until I find pop ups and redirects at 1 alright so as most of us know some sites will have a thousand pop ups saying you won a prize and for the kids they don't know that's not a good thing so they'll click on it which is not going to helpful so with this one it can pop up pop ups and redirects will help block certain pop ups so let's say Starfall has 20 cops going on at put on my block list am I allowed list for Block let's say let's say I wanted to go to Storyline Online they have problems going on she's kind of block kind of hurting the kids saw the storyline online . org that I added so now on my block list if there any pop-ups like ask or think it's been happening this one hour or let's say we're doing map testing and we have a top of block from Africa things so again on my max testing so that make sure that when I get to get a test in go straight to Ale coughing up against important so again if you want to stop Ash coming up you ask you to block a phone allow certain sites pop up your ad and that one pretty much is the basics for today for our Chrome 101 hopefully this help help out and again make sure that you this is a very long video so again refer back to our schedule so you can hit on with you actually need and yeah hope to see you sooner next video that being said I'm going still on my part so don't worry about it art that being said have a wonderful day and again hope this helps make sure you reach out to whoever you need to so I can have any questions or concerns
